2009 Conference Comments

About Our Conference

I have attended many conferences over the past years, and this conference stands out as the best one. I was impressed with the quality of the speakers, the level of organization, and the level of knowledge I gained as being part of this conference! Thanks!

Just my 1st time and I loved it....can't wait for next year. I was very impressed with the organization, flow and time left for discussions.

This was my first REACHE conference, I was very impressed with the quality of the whole event.

This is my FAVORITE conference! Thanks for all the work that goes into it every year. Please just keep it up!

Well organized and pertinent information for today. I love REACHE conferences.

I have been looking forward to this conference! The topic is so relational to all that attended. Great comments and questions from the floor.

What an excellent conference!! I have never been to a conference with this richness of content for the price I paid. The speakers were excellent and engaging and held my interest for the entire time. The breaks were well timed and gave the opportunity for lots of stretch time to enjoy the rare sunshine.

REACHE conferences are ALWAYS top rate. I'm always confident in signing up for them.

BEST REACHE I have attended! The topic really addressed the underlying issue surrounding all of the negative trends in maternity care. All of the speakers were great. I left feeling ready to improve my teaching.

I loved how the speakers covered the gamut! From a journalist to an OB to a birth educator/doula. Great job attending to everyone's interests and needs. The topic choice was very unifying and one that needs to be addressed again in a few years.

GREAT conference and GREAT speakers. This is only my second time attending, but this year was an improvement over last year and last year's was great too!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the online evaluations and conference materials!

About Our Speakers

Dr. Russell's presentation surpassed my expectations (and I expected it to be great to begin with!) I think her talk presented a perspective seldom addressed in conferences such as REACHE.

This is information to start bridging gaps!  The talk was excellent!

This man is brilliant in the simplicity of what he is doing to examine the issue of risk. I LOVED his talk!

Excellent speaker and Excellent presentation. I have a much better understanding of risk estimation and what those statistics really mean!  Would love to hear more from him again at another conference!

Kathy did a wonderful job on teaching me how to respond to a woman's fear of birth and I left with some great tools to use with future clients. I enjoyed her passion for the subject matter.

Kathy McGrath's information was very helpful and I have already begun to use some of this in my CBE practice. Thank you.

Wow! I think back to 20 years of education and I'm sure I never handled the "super anxious and fearful Mom correctly....what an eye opener! I'll handle it much better now....and I like the drawing and crayons part......art therapy.

LOVED this presentation. Dr. Kotaska was articulate and informed. I understand far better now the real meaning of risk. This will impact how I share information with my clients.

I enjoyed Dawn presentation. It confirmed that OB's are also people, I had a feeling about that. I didn't know what they have to go through in med school. I appreciated her humor, as well as her candid realism.

Absolutely fascinating to hear the information straight "from the horses mouth", and especially as an educator working at Evergreen. While it's nice to hear that there are some "maverick" OBs out there, it's unfortunate to hear how much they all operate out of fear, and really, disheartening that we can't go out immediately and change the framework of obstetric care in the US.

Dr. Kotaska was not only an excellent public speaker, but very well informed about risk in modern obstetrics. His information will be rather useful in classes where we are constantly trying to convey risk estimation in relation to everyday activities and trying to help parents find that balance between fear and faith.

He was a breath of fresh air. I so hope his word can spread.....maybe if he goes on Oprah

You gals always save the best for last, and this was no exception. Kathy was amazing, and I was moved to tears at several points in her presentation. I fear not for my own births in the future, but for women who do not have access to classes, education, doulas, midwifes and just information in general...

I loved the powerful emotion in the presentation. It is so good to have some new ideas, tools and language to use in class. I feel empowered to be successful in empowering others. Sounds like a Jewel of the Day... Superb presentation! Thank you so much.

It was great to learn that even the media takes itself out of context. It is amazing the power behind the media and how some believe everything they hear and read in mass media. It sure gets challenging to know whom and what to believe without checking research and full comments after journalists do. Tough job for the consumer! Thanks for doing this work in your book. Super presentation!
